Susan Jaffe, M.D. is a psychiatrist who actually talks to her patients.  She is Board Certified and practices in Midtown Manhattan.  Dr. Jaffe attended the State University School of Medicine at Stony Brook and is on the Faculty of The NYU School of Medicine.  She has been in private practice for 18 years and has successfully worked with patients from their late teens to early 80’s with problems ranging from adjustment to college, to relationship problems and issues concerning health and aging.  She is experienced in treating job stress, anxiety and worries about achieving success.  Dr. Jaffe treats biological disorders such as Attention Deficit Disorder, Major Depression and Bipolar Disorder all requiring close monitoring of medication.

The mind is complicated and Dr. Jaffe knows that there is no one-size-fits-all with regard to treatment.  She works closely with her patients to understand their needs whether it’s five sessions to cure their insomnia or a more intensive treatment to understand long-standing troubling patterns of behavior.  She also consults and works closely with the non-M.D. therapists and medical specialists who are involved in her patients’ treatment.  Sometimes medication is necessary and sometimes isn’t.  If Dr. Jaffe isn’t the best person to help, she will find the person who is.

As a recognized expert on psychological issues, Dr. Jaffe has been interviewed and quoted in the New York Times, WebMD, CNN, the New York Observer and has appeared on NBC News.  She also has published scholarly papers in her field.
